Rilke Schule offers a number of activities and options for children before and after school. We sponsor an extended school day early in the morning, and a homework club after school. In addition, we have a number of other before and after school activities. Other organizations also offer activities for children before and after school.

EXTENDED SCHOOL DAY

Our Smart Start Before School program is offered Monday- Friday from 7-8 AM.  The cost is $150 per quarter. Payment must accompany registration - no spot will be held without payment. Classes will be canceled if less than 10 children are enrolled for each session.

Every student may bring breakfast that does not need to be heated and can be eaten without requiring much cleanup.

HOMEWORK CLUB

Rilke Schule offers Homework Club Monday through Friday on regular school days (not on half or in-service days) from 3:15-4:00PM/4:00-5:00 PM.

The cost is $150 per quarter for the first hour, and another $150 per quarter for the second hour for five days a week. If you need fewer days a week of homework club, the cost per quarter is $30 per hour per day. Daily as needed care can be arranged in advance for $10 a day. Terri must know ahead of time if your child needs homework club so she can have an accurate list for the teacher.

Payment MUST accompany registration - no spot will be held without payment.

Each student must pack their own healthy snack for after school.

3:15-3:35 pm - Sport-physical fitness activities.
3:35-4:40 pm - Homework Club

GIRL SCOUTS - 2010-2011
There is a very active Girl Scout Program at Rilke Schule. If you would like to learn more about helping with or signing your daughter up for Girl Scouts at Rilke Schule please contact Liz Crafford at 529-4560 or craffordfamily@gmail.com or one of the leaders for the troops listed below. We welcome all girls and adults to this great program.

·         Kindergarten Daisy troop – Renata Brennan, brennatov@gci.net, has volunteered to start a troop with help. She is seeking co leaders, please contact her if you would like to help her out.

CUB SCOUTS AND BOY SCOUTS AT ST JOHN’S UMC
Cub Scout Pack 123 and Boy Scout Troop 210 meet near Rilke Schule at St John United Methodist on O'Malley.  That's just down the hill from O'Malley and Lake Otis.  The Cubs Scouts are having an introduction night at St. John on Thursday Sept 2 at 7pm.  Some info on the Pack is here: http://weddleton.com/Pack123/index.htm

 For the Boy Scout Troop, boys 11 and older and their parents can come by the regular monthly meeting at St John at 7pm Mondays.  We will have an introductory camping trip Sept 11 and 12.  Contact Scoutmaster Dave Shroyer at 240-1375 or Dschroyer@pafak.com for more information.

Before and After Care Options outside of Rilke Schule:

The following before and after care options are available through outside companies that offer transportation from Rilke Schule to their program.  As such, they are in control of their own fees and registration process.  Families must contact them directly to verify availability and fees, as well as to register.

If you sign you child up for an After Care Option that does not begin until 3 PM on Fridays, you must sign them up for the FRIDAY CLUB program as well.

Anchorage Gymnastics Association (AGA) is providing Rilke students with a Gymnastic Sport Camp after school program for all grade levels.  Please visit www.anchorage-gymnastics.com or call 563-3041 to get complete information. Registration packets forAGA are available at their gym, located at 525 W Potter Drive.  AGA will be picking up children from our Sentry Drive location for Fall 2010.

Arctic Gymnastics
Their facility is also open on in-service days and holidays.  They are located at 3330 Arctic Ave.  Call 563-3330 or go to http://www.arcticgym.com/ for more information. Arctic Gymnastics will pick up children from school for Fall 2010.
