****The Optional Intensive program needs a Program Coordinator for August 2010, or we will not be able to offer the program*****
Please consider stepping up to help with this worthwhile program.

Our Optional Intensive program is run by Parent Volunteers. It is designed to give our teachers a chance to have some quality program planning time together to strengthen our school curriculum. It runs from 1:30 to 3 PM on Fridays when school is in session (not on In Service days). The cost is $5 per child per week, $10 for 2 or more siblings.  Please make a check out to RSV or Rilke Schule Verein and write "OI's" on it.  You may sign your child up for one week at a time or for the whole quarter.

There is a drop box for OI payments at the front desk.  It's a locking box, so payments can be put directly into the box without having to disrupt our fabulous office staff.  Please put payments in an envelope with the student's name and which O.I. they are attending This not only ensures proper crediting of your payment, it stops the need for office staff to have to label your payments with post-it notes. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

If you sign up for homework club on Fridays, you MUST also sign up and pay separately for an Optional Intensive.

To Register for a class, fill out the form at the bottom of the page and email it to us. Note: The registration form will be available for First Quarter 2010 when we have enough volunteers to hold classes, hopefully by the time of school registration in early August. You can sign up for one or many weeks for a class, or for different classes on different weeks. You will receive a confirmation email. Please register your child by Wednesday evening for the program for that week, so we can be sure to have enough Parent Volunteers to help. After Wednesday, children may join only on a space-available basis. Email any questions to rilke.optional.intensives@gmail.com

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THIS FALL!!

O.I. Coordinator - We are currently looking for a volunteer to manage next year's O.I. program. This volunteer is responsible for lining up programs for the children and finding volunteers to staff them. A volunteer is needed now to begin planning for next fall to have an optional intensive program.

Program Leaders and assistants - The Optional Intensives are an opportunity for the larger Rilke Schule community to help teach our children interesting skills, and to help support the Rilke Schule teachers. We need parent volunteers to help out. WE WANT YOUR SKILLS AND TALENTS!! You can help out one Friday or every Friday, whatever works for your schedule. We especially need Kindergarten and 1st grade parents to help with the KinderOp, but we also want to add new programs for older kids.

Instructions for Volunteers

Please send us an email at rilke.optional.intensives@gmail.com or a note included in your registration if you can help out!!

O.I. VOLUNTEERS GET DISCOUNT FOR KIDS!
The Optional Intensive Program is pleased to announce that starting with the Third Quarter, up to 15 adult volunteers per week will pay only $1 per child for their kids to attend an O.I. if they volunteer to help, too. The regular fee of $5 per child will apply if the parent is not volunteering. We want to encourage as many parents as possible
to participate in the program, and we hope this gives you an incentive. We appreciate your help! Use the regular registration form to indicate which days you are able to volunteer. Thank you!

OI THANK YOU's
The Optional Intensive program wants to send a big THANK YOU to all the parent volunteers who helped with OI's during the fourth quarter. It wouldn't run without your help!! Beth Schlabaugh, Stacie Schaffer, Fran McGuire, Greg Gould, Vivian Young, Scott Gurisko, Benny, Alex, Rebecca Clerc, Britta Manning, Martin, Annika, Stephanie Schroeder, Tallee Wellman, Renee Huntman, Todd Manning, Dee Gore, Liz Crafford, and Denise Cotten. Thank you one and ALL!!

Please consider stepping up to help with this worthwhile program.

We also need Parent Volunteers willing to help run classes. The successful classes we offered last year were: Knitting, Rock Climbing, Stamping, Soccer, Math Club, German and other Board Games, Creative Movement, Gardening, Cross Stitching, Cooking, Outdoor Skills, Color-Me-Mine, and Nature Programs with live animal visits.

Please send us an email if you can help teach or assist with a class!

Signups will be available in August once we have the program finalized.

Title: KINDEROP
Description: The Optional Intensive program is offering a multi-activity program for Kindergartners and First Graders. The children will play a variety of games and activities outside and indoors that include soccer or other weather appropriate P.E. activities, games, stories, songs, and simple crafts. We split into smaller groups and rotate activities to provide enrichment. We will do our best to accommodate children who wish to remain longer in one particular activity. When there is another suitable activity offered (like our Nature programs), the young children will automatically attend those, you do not need to sign them up separately.

REGISTRATION FORM

Even if your child was registered last quarter, you MUST sign them up again for this quarter. If your child attends homework club on Fridays, you MUST also sign them up for O.I.s. The cost for all 8 sessions will be $40, or $5 per class. Parent volunteers get discount(s) for their kid(s). Children who repeatedly misbehave during Optional Intensives will be asked to leave the program. Please make sure your children understand that it is a privilege to participate in this program run by volunteers. Thank you parents, for your help with this.

We welcome and encourage your ideas and suggestions on how to make this program successful. Rilke.optional.intensives@gmail.com
