Rilke Schule is a charter school within the Anchorage School District with a focus on the German Language.  Charter Schools are public alternative schools that are held to the same standards as all other ASD schools, though they have more freedom with their choice of curriculum and may use methods of teaching that are not used in other schools.  A very good overview of charter schools can be found at  http://www.uscharterschools.org/pub/uscs_docs/o/index.htm.

Charter schools in Alaska are regulated by the State Department of Education and Early Development. http://www.eed.state.ak.us/Alaskan_Schools/Charter/.

Rilke Schule is in its third year of operation. The original school charter was approved for three years. In December, 2009, the Anchorage School Board recommended unanimously that the State renew the school's charter for 10 years. The State will make its decision in the spring.

The school is located at 650 W. International Airport Road, Anchorage, AK 99518.  Appointments to tour the school can be made by calling the school office at  1-907-742-7455.

If you are looking for a school for your child, we hope you will find our Prospective Parents page helpful. For more in depth information on Rilke Schule, please visit the links to left.

For both of its years of operation, Rilke Schule has met all of the AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) goals. Our students achieved 94% Proficiency in Language Arts Performance, and 80.7% Proficiency in Mathematics Performance, both far above the target values. Go Rilke Schule!!
