Rilke Schule is a charter school within the Anchorage School District with a focus on the German Language.  Charter Schools are public alternative schools that are held to the same standards as all other ASD schools, though they have more freedom with their choice of curriculum and may use methods of teaching that are not used in other schools.

A very good overview of charter schools can be found at  http://www.uscharterschools.org/pub/uscs_docs/o/index.htm

Charter schools in Alaska are regulated by the State Department of Education and Early Development. http://www.eed.state.ak.us/Alaskan_Schools/Charter/.

Rilke Schule will be in its fourth year beginning Fall 2010. The original school charter was approved for three years. In March of 2010 the State Board of Education approved the Rilke Schule Charter for 10 more years. Yippee!!

The school is located at 2511 Sentry Drive, Suite 100, Anchorage AK 99507 as of July 1st 2010.  Appointments to tour the school can be made by calling the school office at  1-907-742-7455.

If you are looking for a school for your child, we hope you will find our Prospective Parents page helpful. For more in depth information on Rilke Schule, please visit the links to left.

For all three years of operation, Rilke Schule has met all of the AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) goals. Testing is in April and results are announced over the summer.
