Samstagsschule: German Saturday School

Rilke Schule will again host a German Saturday school beginning on September 10th, 2011.  The Otto Geist Saturday School is a separate, non-profit organization which has classes held at Rilke Schule. This school is aimed at people of all ages who would like to learn German. Classes for most ages will run from 9 am – 12 pm, with a snack break at 10:30 for the younger children.

Classes for children of pre-kindergarten (age 3½-5½) and elementary school age will emphasize speaking and understanding, only gradually adding reading and writing, while singing German songs and making German crafts. Culture will be a part of every class, no matter what level. Students will be invited to participate in German cultural events such as Oktoberfest, Martinstag Lantern Walk, Nikolaustag, Fasching Carnival, etc.

High school and adult classes will be offered on demand at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels.  Adult classes will also be offered during the week, if enough students register.  Beginning German will be Tuesdays from 6-8 PM and Intermediate German Mondays from 6-8 PM.

Teachers will be native speakers or near native speakers who have been trained to use the newest methods in foreign language teaching. Classes will be small, with 6 to 12 students per class.
